Mount Moses, also known as Mount Sinai, is located in the south of the Sinai Peninsula. According to tradition, this is where Prophet Moses received the Ten Commandments from God and witnessed the Burning Bush. Standing at 2,285 meters, it offers one of the most stunning sunrises in Egypt.
At the base of the mountain lies St. Catherine’s Monastery, one of the oldest continuously operating Christian monasteries in the world, founded in the 6th century by Emperor Justinian. The monastery houses rare manuscripts, icons dating back to the 6th century, and the sacred Burning Bush.
Program Details
Pickup:
From your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh at 20:00 by modern air-conditioned vehicle.
Drive to St. Catherine area (approx. 3 hours with a 15-minute rest stop).
Climbing Mount Sinai:
Reach the foot of the mountain, meet your tour guide, and start climbing around midnight.
Recommended for those reasonably fit.
Torch provided.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and warm clothing (extra layers needed in winter).
Option to ride a camel for the first two-thirds of the climb; the last 700 steps must be done on foot.
Optional blanket hire at the summit (supports local families).
Tea and snack stops available along the way.

St. Catherine’s Monastery:

Monastery hours: 08:45 – 11:45 (closed Fridays, Sundays, and Coptic holidays).
